FAQ

Is the OMGFA affiliated with the OMGAA, OMGHA or OMGBA? No. Each of these associations are independent with their own programs, bylaws, boards of directors etc. However, we do try to coordinate our activities with the other associations as needed to avoid schedule conflicts.

Why is Registration in May? We want to avoid conflicts with family vacations, summer camps, etc. during the summer break. This also allows us to get a handle on the number of players and teams for each grade so we can order jerseys and other equipment as well as plan game schedules, secure coaches and form teams.

How are Team Rosters formed? 3rd-6th grade teams are formed by neighborhood / school if possible to keep the kids together and to minimize travel to practices. This is a very difficult task and impossible to satisfy everyone as the number of kids from each school and grade are different and change from year to year. We may adjust some team rosters to maintain a more competitive balance if needed. We do appreciate everyone’s understanding regarding this issue. 7th & 8th grade teams are formed using an equi-draft system to evenly distribute size and talent.

Can Girls Play in the program? Yes. We usually have several girls in the program each year.

Can kids that live outside the Osseo – Maple Grove area play in the association? Yes, we do not turn away kids that want to play.

How are Coaches selected? Each year head coaches are evaluated based on feedback from referees, other coaches and parents. Coaches that demonstrate and promote the OMGFA philosophy are favored.

Do we have a formal End of Season Evaluation Form? Yes.  Feedback from parents is important to providing quality experience for the players and their families.  Near the end of each season the board will send out an e-mail evaluation form to the parents of each player.  We greatly appreciate your comments and feedback.

How can someone get involved and help the program? The best way is to come to the monthly board meetings. We can always use some help and new ideas.
